A New Building For The Growing Community

The community had been looking for awhile into purchasing a larger building in Monett, MO to meet the needs of our growing community and also to increase the opportunities for outreach and evangelism in the area.

The decision was made in December 2022 to purchase the building at 301 4th ST. Monett, Mo. Built in 1922, it was originally a Masonic Temple, though it has not been functioning as such for quite some time. The community closed on the building in mid December 2022, and are beginning the work it will take to make it a suitable home for the Ascension of Christ Orthodox Church.

The first task was to remove the Masonic titles that were carved into the building. The community spent a couple of days working at removing the carvings.

Much more work needs to be done and is in the process of being done. It will be awhile until we are able to meet for services in the new building, but in the meantime join us in praying for God’s blessing on this work.

First part of chiseling out the carvings.

The community spent a couple days working together to remove the Masonic carvings on the building.

The masonic symbols nearer ground level were removed first. Afterward, the symbol highest on the building was removed by reaching out of an upper window to chisel it out. Ladders and then scaffolding was used to reach the other carvings high up on the building in order to chisel them out.

Join us in prayer for God’s blessing on this effort, and if you are interested in helping in any way, contact us.

Obviously, there is much work left to be done in the building.
